Logistics

The ICBA International Symposium on the State of Cooperative Financial Institutions – Fueling Inclusive and Equitable Growth, to be held on 28–29 May 2026 at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA. The Symposium is being organised by ICBA in collaboration with the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).

Accommodation

Participants are kindly requested to make their own arrangements and bear the costs for travel and accommodation.

Please note that local transportation between hotels and the UN–UNDESA/COPAC premises will not be provided. Participants are therefore advised to select accommodation, at their own discretion, within walking distance of the UN Headquarters for convenient access to UNDESA/COPAC.

Public Transportation in New York City

New York City offers a wide range of convenient and reliable public transportation options, operating around the clock.

Subway

  • • The subway system operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • • A single ride costs approximately USD 3.00 when using OMNY contactless payment, or USD 3.25 with a Single Ride MetroCard.
  • • Riders may transfer between subway lines without additional charge, provided they do not exit through a turnstile.
  • • Free transfers between the subway and local buses (or vice versa) are available within two hours when using OMNY or a pay-per-ride MetroCard.
  • • Unlimited Ride MetroCards allow free transfers but cannot be reused at the same station or on the same bus route within 18 minutes and are not valid on express buses.

Buses

  • • All city buses accept OMNY contactless payments, MetroCards, Single Ride tickets, and exact coin change (no paper money or pennies).
  • • Payment is made upon entry at the front of the bus.
  • • On Select Bus Service (SBS) routes, payment is made at sidewalk kiosks located near the bus stop.
  • • A single fare is valid for the entire route, with free transfers between local buses within two hours of the initial payment.


Taxis and Ride-Sharing Services

  • • Hotel doormen can assist in hailing a taxi; a USD 1 tip is customary for this service.
  • • All licensed taxis accept cash, credit, debit, and prepaid cards.
  • • A gratuity of 15–20% is customary at the end of the trip. Bridge and tunnel tolls are charged in addition to the metered fare.
  • • Ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft are widely available throughout the city.

Registration

Delegates are kindly requested to register online as early as possible. Please note that online registration is mandatory to attend the event in New York, and the registration process is not complete till you have paid the registration fee.

Registration Fee

A registration fee of Euro 300 will be applicable to all participants. When the registration form is submitted, delegates will receive an email with an invoice with their applicable registration fee to their registered email ID. For any questions, please contact the ICBA secretariat at symposium@icba.coop.

Once you have paid the registration fee and informed the secretariat, you will receive a confirmation email.

Mode of Payment

Delegates are required to pay the registration fee to ICA via bank transfer. The bank payment details will be provided along with the invoice (via email) once the online registration is complete. Please inform the ICBA secretariat at symposium@icba.coop as soon as you make the payment.

Once you have paid the registration fee and informed the secretariat, you will receive a confirmation email.

Badge

The registration desk will be open at the venue from 27 May onwards. Delegates are requested to provide their payment receipt and collect their name badge and registration kit. The delegate name badge must be worn at all times during the events. Access to the venue will not be granted without a name badge.

Privacy and Data Protection

The protection of your data is important to us. The hosts and organizers will collect and store necessary personal information for the preparation and execution of the event. By registering for the ICBA International Symposium, the parties concerned are agreeing that their personal information may be used to contact them by email to supply information relevant to this event, or about other events and opportunities that the organizers are planning and feel may be of interest to them. You may ask to be removed from the ICBA database at any time.

Photos & Filming

Photos and videos will be taken during the event, for example, in a group of people or when presentations are made or questions asked, and these will be posted and shared by the ICBA website, ICBA social media pages or other communications channels for the purpose of the promotion of the cooperative movement. Use of the photographic images for purposes other than those described above or for marketing via the transfer of the images to third parties is prohibited.

General

We reserve the right at all times to change, amend, add, or remove any of the above conditions without prior notice if one or more of the conditions outlined above become invalid. The remaining conditions will continue to be valid and apply. These Conditions apply to all delegates of this event, including speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors.
